Fungi have a high metabolic diversity, and can occur in numerous ecological niches, where they interact with other living organisms. These evolutionary and ecological processes eventually influence fungal diversity. To highlight the importance of human, animal and plant health globally, a special symposium with leading scientists is planned to address how global and climate change impact fungal evolution. Special sessions address plant and human health, fungal applications in industry, fungal ecology and genomics. This meeting also addresses new developments on fungal taxonomy, and how we define taxa.
